Hegel D50 DAC (Raven)

It is not only about the DAC chip, but how the circuitry is implemented. This is what makes the D50 so special to elevate the sound experience.

Great care has been taken to filter out electricity noise from the mains.

The power management has been meticulously designed to feed different components and the transformers are shielded by think steel and located far away from sensitive electronics. The D50 uses a two low noise toroidal transformers, one for the noisier digital processing and standby feature and another for the delicate analogue and digital components.

The D50 uses 3x separate master clocks dedicated for 44.1k, 48k and USB sample rates. A custom card processes the I2S data from the S/PDIF protocol, which is prone to timing errors and may be noisy.

The AES/EBU input features a unique RS422 receiver balanced by a transformer to handle both weak and strong signals flawlessly, free of jitter and time delays.

The DAC chip is located above the rest of the electronics to reduce noise  and provide a shorter signal path.

You can also integrate the Hegel integrated streaming amps through DAC loop feature for a higher level of separation. Likewise you can also use the DAC with any other streamer.

The D50 is Hegel’s reference Digital Analogue Converter housed in a Solid aluminium chassis and ideal to pair with the P30A preamplifier, the H30A power amplifier and the Viking CD-player.  It was designed to form part of the separates  range for the ultimate listening experience.
