The Utopia Stella EM EVO is the smaller sibling of the Grande featuring the same technology only in a simplified 3-way design with a smaller, but yet large woofer (13 inches).
The 1 inch pure Beryllium inverted dome tweeter provides precise sound as the recording intended. The IAL2™ (Infinite Acoustic Loading version 2) is Focal’s specialised decoupled rear-chamber system that uses a Push-Pull Neodymium motor that enables free air movement behind the dome allowing sound waves to disperse in a large tuned cavity with progressive damping materials.
2x 6.5 inch midranges incorporates the new TMD® (Tuned Mass Damper) suspension to reduce cone breakup to increase vocals and stereo imaging. The NIC (Neutral Inductance Circuit) motor improves the magnetic field stability to provide a pure signal for the voice coil while still providing dynamic range. This reduces back pressure reducing the resonant frequency down to 528Hz.
The Focal Utopia Stella is a full range speaker that can also be used as a LFE with a high efficiency 13 inch woofer with deep bass down to 18Hz. The EM (Electro-Magnet) driver includes an external DC power supply and control unit to enable you to tune the bass characteristics (sharp/tight/punchy or warmer/deeper). This also manages heat much better, providing better consistency at high volumes for long durations. This is different from most drivers, which provides a permanent magnet which does not allow a variable Q-factor.
The midrange, midbass and woofer cones are constructed out of Woven Glass Fibre as skin with a polymethacrylimide foam for the core.
The Gamma™ Structure uses variable, up to 5cm, MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) layers, making the cabinets ultra rigid with the spectacular curved sides and backbone of the loudspeaker, and can be tilted by the action of a leather-wrapped crank. This adjustable Focus Time™ function ensures the perfect sound image, depending on room configuration and listening position. Each loudspeaker is housed in a separate cabinet. The rigidity of the cabinet is enhanced by MRR (Machined Reinforced aluminium Rings).
